Summer may be in full swing for Flyers fans, but this week is part of hockey season for the organization as the team's annual Development Camp takes place at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ.

A total of 39 players are taking part in this year's camp, including eight of the Flyers' selections from last week's NHL Draft. The group gathered in South Jersey on Friday and Saturday for orientation meetings before taking in Saturday afternoon's Phillies game, where 2023 first round pick Oliver Bonk threw out one of the day's first pitches. His presence obviously inspired the Phillies, who dismantled the Washington Nationals 19-4.

The players have been divided into two teams for the camp - Team Clarke and Team Lindros - and will take the ice for instructional sessions on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday before concluding camp with a game on Thursday evening.

All on-ice sessions at the Flyers Training Center are free and open to the public. The players will be on the ice in shifts between 10:15 AM and 2:15 PM on Sunday and Monday, and between 9:15 AM and 1:15 PM on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the camp participants will take part in a clinic with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Camp at 3:30 PM at the Class of 1923 Arena on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The historic facility, which served as the Flyers' practice rink from the franchise's inception through the early 1980s, is now home to much of the programming offered by Ed Snider Youth Hockey and Education. That includes its youth hockey summer camp, which became possible when the foundation contributed more than $7 million to upgrade the Class of 1923 Rink in 2019. That renovation enabled programming to be held there throughout the year, whereas the rink had previously only been open from November through March.

Thursday's scrimmage will be in the evening, beginning at 6:30 PM, and will be the final session of the camp. On Tuesday, the participants will devote the Fourth of July to off-ice activities.

With the draft and the opening day of free agency having passed, Development Camp serves as the final organizational activity of the summer months. The next event on the calendar will be the team's Rookie Camp in mid-September, held ahead of the team's main training camp later in the month.

The schedule is subject to change, but any updates can be found here on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com and the team's social channels.
