York, 22 (1/5/01), tallied a career-high 20 points (2-18=20) in 54 games with Philadelphia and collected a career-high 13 points (3-10=13) in 20 games with Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 2022-23 season. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound native of Anaheim, Calif., ranked third among Flyers defensemen in assists and T-4th in scoring. The left-shot blueliner notched his first career shorthanded point (assist) on Dec. 20 vs. Columbus and recorded a career-high three-game point streak (3a) from Dec. 31-Jan. 5. He owns 30 points (5-25=30) in 87 career NHL games with the Flyers in parts of three seasons (2020-23).
York recorded 30 points (7-23=30) and three game-winning goals in 62 career AHL games with the Phantoms in parts of three seasons (2020-23). He skated in two seasons with the University of Michigan of the Big Ten Conference and registered 36 points (9-27=36) in 54 career contests. He was named the 2020-21 Big Ten Defenseman of the Year, to the 2020-21 First Team All-Big Ten, a 2019-20 Big Ten Rookie of the Year finalist and to the 2019-20 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Prior to being selected by the Flyers in the first round (14th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, York ranked fifth among all skaters, first among defensemen, on the USA Hockey National Team Development Program's (NTDP) U-18 team with 65 points (14-51=65) in 63 contests during the 2018-19 season. He became the first player in NTDP history to record seven points in a single United States Hockey League (USHL) game when he did so against Youngstown (3-4=7) on Jan. 15, 2019. The blueliner recorded 103 points (22-81=103) in 122 career games with NTDP from 2017-19 to become the second defenseman in NTDP history to reach the 100-point milestone (J.D. Forrest).
He has also represented the United States in several international competitions including the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge (gold), the 2018 IIHF U-18 World Championship (silver), the 2019 IIHF World U-18 World Championship (bronze), the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship and served as captain at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship (gold).
