The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed goaltender Alex Lyon to a one-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $700K, according to President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

* Lyon appeared in three games for the Flyers this past season (2019-20), going 1-1-0 with a 3.55 GAA and .890 save percentage, earning a 6-3 win vs. Colorado on Feb. 1.

* He served as the team's third goaltender in the Toronto bubble for the Flyers 2020 Stanley Cup Playoff run.

* He spent most of the 2019-20 season with the club's AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, where he received a majority of the starts - going 11-14-5 with a 2.69 GAA and .913 save percentage and one shutout.

* Over four seasons with the Phantoms, he has compiled a record of 73-53-15 with six shutouts and a career goals-against average of 2.73 and .913 save percentage in 145 regular season games.

* He has a 6-6 Calder Cup playoff record in 13 appearances with a 1.99 GAA and .940 save percentage.

* Lyon was the goaltender in one of the most famous games in Phantoms history - earning a 2-1 win in a five overtime game against the Charlotte Checkers on May 9, 2018 where he stopped 94 of 95 shots he faced through 146:48 of play of Game 3 Atlantic Division Finals.

* He originally signed with the Flyers as a free agent out of Yale University on Apr. 6, 2016 and signed an extension on July 16, 2017.

* During his three-year Yale career, Lyon led the ECAC in goals-against average and save percentage in his final two seasons, while finishing third in win percentage. Lyon set school records during his tenure in career goals-against average (1.88), save percentage (.931), wins (50) and shutouts (15).
