The Philadelphia Flyers today announced the club has signed goaltender Ivan Fedotov to a two-year, $ 6.5 million contract ($3.25 million AAV), according to General Manager Daniel Briere.
Fedotov, 27 (11/28/96), spent majority of the 2023-24 season with CSKA Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and went 21-22-1 with a 2.37 GAA, a .914 SV% and four shutouts in 44 games. The 6-foot-7, 214-pound Russian native, ranked T-6th in the KHL in shutouts and T-8th in wins. He tallied a career-high two assists and posted a season-high four-game win streak from Dec. 30-Jan. 9. The left-glove backstop went 0-1-1 with a 4.95 GAA and a .811 SV% in three games (one start) with Philadelphia this season. He made his NHL debut on April 1 vs. the New York Islanders to become the second Russian goaltender in franchise history to make his NHL debut with the Flyers, joining Sergei Bobrovsky (10/7/10 at PIT).
Fedotov went 61-55-8 with a 2.22 GAA, a .921 SV%, 10 shutouts and five assists in 133 career regular season games in parts of seven KHL seasons with Nizhnekamsk, Ufa Salavat, Chelyabinsk and CKSA Moscow (2014-15, 2017-22, 2023-24). He went 18-13 with a 2.06 GAA, a .930 SV% and two shutouts in 31 career KHL playoff contests. During the 2021-22 KHL season, he was named the League’s Best Goaltender, named to the First All-Star Team and won the Gagarin Cup. Internationally, Fedotov won a silver medal with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
Fedotov was selected by the Flyers in the seventh round (188th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft and signed a one-year, entry-level contract with Philadelphia on May 7, 2022, which was transferred to the 2023-24 NHL season.
