The Hockey Hall of Fame today announced that former Flyers head coach, Ken Hitchcock, will be inducted into the Class of 2023 in the builder category.

Hitchcock is one of two individuals in the builder category who will be officially enshrined at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Pierre Lacroix will join him in the builder category that make up the Class of 2023.

Hitchcock spent parts of seven seasons in total with the Flyers, including four as head coach from May 14, 2002 to Oct. 22, 2006 where he accumulated 131 regular season wins in 254 games for a 131-73-28-22 record and .614 winning percentage.

He had a 19-18 record in 37 Stanley Cup Playoff games, which included a run to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final in 2004.

He spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Flyers before receiving his first NHL head coaching job with the Stars in 1996.

As head coach of the Flyers, Hitchcock led the team to three consecutive 40-win and 100-plus point seasons, which included a first-place finish in the Atlantic Division in 2003-04 with a 40-21-15-6 record, and two second-place finishes in the Atlantic (2002-03 & 2005-06).

Overall parts of a 22-year NHL career as head coach, Hitchcock ranks fourth all-time in regular season wins with 849 victories and seventh all-time in regular season games with 1,598 games behind the bench. He has a record of 849-534-88-127 for a .599 winning percentage.

Among his NHL accomplishments, Hitchcock led the Stars to the 1999 Stanley Cup Championship as well as two Presidents' Trophy seasons in 1997-98 and 1998-99.

He earned the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year for the 2011-12 season after leading the Blues to a 43-15-11 record and 97-point season.
