The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation strives to meet the health and educational needs of children, with a focus on underserved populations, and to strengthen youth hockey in our community.

GRANTS

 

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation is pleased to support local nonprofits through grant funding. The Foundation accepts grant proposals for grants, awarded at various levels of funding. Priority for grant funding is given to nonprofits that share the Foundation's mission and focus on children's health and education.

We appreciate your interest in receiving grant funding from the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. Please read through the guidelines and restrictions below.

To receive grant funding from the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, organizations must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service

  • Share the mission of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation to strive to meet the health and education needs of children with a focus on impacting underserved populations, and/or strengthening youth hockey in our community

  • Directly serve children in the state of North Carolina with a focus on health or education

  • Be in operation for three or more years

  • Must be available for site visits, provide use of funds summary reports, and recognize the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation as a donor

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation's grant funding does not generally support the following:

  • Event sponsorship or fundraisers, including but not limited to galas, awareness walks, and golf tournaments

  • General operating costs, staff salaries, capital campaigns, endowments, or other reserve funds

  • PTA's, booster clubs, churches, or political organizations

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation is committed to serving our community in which we live, work and play. The 2024-25 grant cycle is closed.

Please note, many organizations apply for grants each cycle, and the overall amount of funding requested far exceeds the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation's resources. Declined applications in no way reflect the importance of an organization's mission or programming. Groups that do not receive funding are encouraged to apply again next year and find other creative ways to partner with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.


Game Changer Grants
Grassroots Grants

Grants are awarded annually at one of three levels of funding: $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000. The number of grants provided at each level will be evaluated annually, based on available funds. Game Changer Grants are intended to assist organizations make a positive impact in our community on the grassroots level.

Please note:

  • Organizations can only apply for grant funding at one level per grant cycle

Youth Hockey Programs

Grants are awarded annually at various levels, based on available funds and the organization's needs. Future Canes Grants are designed to strengthen and grow youth hockey in North Carolina, ensuring that hockey is accessible for everyone.
