New York Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz was named to Team Canada's coaching staff for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Hockey Canada announced on Monday.
Trotz will be an assistant to Jon Cooper, the Tampa Bay Lightning's bench boss. Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy and Vegas Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer will also serve an assistant coaches.

This will be Trotz's first Olympic Games, though the Islanders' bench boss and Dauphin, MB, native has previously represented Canada on the international stage.

Per Hockey Canada:
Trotz has represented Canada four times as an assistant coach with Canada's National Men's Team at the IIHF World Championship, winning gold (2003) and silver (2009). He also won the 2016 World Cup of Hockey as an assistant coach with Team Canada.
Trotz is 115-67-24 in his first three seasons with the Islanders, as well as 28-21 in the postseason. Trotz has led the Islanders to the Eastern Conference Final and Stanley Cup semifinal in consecutive seasons. The two-time Jack Adams Award winner ranks third in NHL history in games coached (1,730) and wins (877).
The 2022 Beijing Olympics will take place from Feb. 4-20 at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium and The Wukesong Arena.
