Calvin de Haan was named to Team Canada's roster at the upcoming IIHF World Championship taking place May 5-21 in Cologne, Germany and Paris, France.
De Haan set career-highs in goals (5), assists (20) and points (25), appearing in all 82 games for the Islanders this season. The 25-year-old defenseman led the Islanders with 190 blocked shots this year, which ranked fourth-overall in the NHL.
This is de Haan's first trip to the World Championship, though the Carp, ON native played in the World Junior Hockey Championship twice (2010, 2011) and once in U-18 World Championship.
Canada will play in Group B at Worlds, opening their tournament against the Czech Republic on Friday, May 5.
