The New York Islanders announced today that Valtteri Filppula has agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Filppula, 34, scored 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 81 games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season. The Vantaa, Finland native added three points in six games during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In 876 career NHL games with the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia, Filppula has scored 463 points (168 goals, 295 assists). He totaled 82 points (25 goals, 57 assists) in 158 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, has played in three Stanley Cup Finals and won the Stanley Cup with Detroit in 2008.
