Devon Toews skates with the Isles in Dallas

Johnny Boychuk is expected to miss Sunday's game, as he returned to Long Island for the birth of his third child. - If Boychuk is out, Devon Toews will make his NHL debut. Toews, the Islanders 2014 fourth-round pick, has been a standout at the AHL level, earning all-star and all-rookie honors in the 2016-17 season. He had 19 points (5G, 14A) in 24 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers before earning his first NHL recall on Wednesday. - Toews skated on a pairing with Luca Sbisa at Saturday's practice in Dallas and played on the right side. - The Islanders are wrapping up a four-game Western Conference road trip in Dallas. The Isles are 2-1-0 on their trip, winning in Colorado and Arizona, but dropping a 4-2 decision to Vegas on Thursday. - Brock Nelson and Anders Lee are tied for the team lead in goals with 12. - Ryan Pulock has five assists in his past three games. - The Islanders (38 points) are four points back of the Pittsburgh Penguins (42 points) for third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Isles are five points back of the Montreal Canadiens for the second wild card berth in the Eastern Conference.
