The National Hockey League announced today that New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin will join Islanders forward Brock Nelson at the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend in Sunrise, Florida on February 3 and 4. The Islanders goaltender is one of 12 players voted in by fans as part of the All-Star Fan Vote.

Through 108 career games with the New York Islanders, Sorokin has posted a 54-38-14 record, 2.32 goals against average and .924 save percentage. In seven Stanley Cup Playoff appearances, Sorokin has posted a 4-1-0 record, 2.79 goals against average and .922 save percentage.
This season, the 27-year-old is third in the league in save percentage (.925%) and goals against average (2.30), amongst goalies with 10 games played, and he has a 15-14-3 record in 34 appearances. Sorokin has three shutouts this season, and his career-high 49 saves on November 23 are the most in a shutout by any netminder this season.
The Mezhdurechensk, RUS native became the 13th goaltender in club history to record 50 wins with the Islanders on December 23 and he became the sixth goaltender in Islanders history to start 100 games in January.

Sorokin Selected to All-Star Game

Prior to joining the Islanders, Sorokin spent eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Novokuznetsk and CSKA Moscow from 2012-2019, where he posted a 134-64-22 record, 1.70 GAA and .930 SV% in 244 regular season appearances between the two clubs, and a 50-17-0 record in 69 playoff games. He won the KHL's Gagarin Cup with Moscow in 2019.
Sorokin won an Olympic gold medal with the Olympic Athletes from Russia at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. He represented Russia at the World Championships in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, where he helped Russia capture bronze medals in 2016, 2017 and 2019. He also won a silver medal with Team Russia at the 2015 World Junior Championships.
This is the first NHL All-Star appearance for Sorokin. It will be the first time since 2018 that two players will represent the Islanders at the All-Star Game (Josh Bailey and John Tavares).
The Islanders selected Sorokin in the third round (78th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
