The New York Islanders have acquired defenseman Brandon Davidson from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2019 National Hockey League Draft.
Davidson, 26, has five points (three goals, two assists) in 36 games this season with the Montreal Canadiens and Oilers. Edmonton claimed Davidson off waivers from Montreal on Dec. 3.

The Oilers selected Davidson in the sixth round (162nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft. He's scored 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 137 career regular-season games. The Taber, AB, native spent parts of three seasons with Edmonton before being traded to Montreal in exchange for forward David Desharnais on Feb. 28, 2017.
Davidson has also appeared in 150 career games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, totaling 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists). He added nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 31 Calder Cup Playoff games with the Barons.
Prior to his professional career, Davidson played three seasons of junior hockey with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, serving as captain during his final season in 2011-12.
