Heart might be one of the most important qualities in a hockey player when he's on the ice. For the New York Islanders, heart is just as important a quality off of it.
That's why the team visits kids in hospitals, speak to school children, raise hundreds of thousands of dollars per year for the Islanders Children's Foundation and host food, toy and clothing drives for families in need.
And for the third straight season, the Islanders are running their Hockey with a Heart charity of the game program, to help raise money and awareness for local charities, foundations and non-profit organizations.

This season, the Islanders are hosting 40 charities through the Hockey with a Heart program. The causes include:
- Cancer fundraising and awareness nights
- Military appreciation and veteran's assistance programs
- Food and toy drives
- Autism and Alzheimer's awareness
- Special Olympics
- Pride nights and inclusive hockey programs
- Mental health awareness
- Police and firefighter assistance funds
- Gender equality
- Disabilities awareness
- And more
A full list of awareness nights and charitable organizations can be found here. Proceeds from tickets purchased through the Hockey with a Heart page will benefit the charity of the game, so fans can support a great cause, as well as the Islanders.
