This year's World Juniors will take place from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick. Islanders 2022 second-round pick Calle Odelius will also be at the tournament representing Sweden.

MAGGIO HAS FIVE-GOAL GAME

Matt Maggio scored a career-high five goals on Dec. 15 in Windsor's 6-3 win over the Erie Otters.
The Islanders' 2022 fifth-round pick (142nd overall) had a night, tying Windsor's franchise record for goals in a game. Maggio opened the scoring and then scored the third, fourth, fifth and sixth goals for the Spitfires.
Two of Maggio's five goals were shorthanded and came in a span of 21 seconds in the second period.
Maggio's been red hot of late, with 10 goals in his last five games and 17 points (11G, 6A) during an eight-game point streak. Maggio has 24 goals in 28 games this season, which is tied for the OHL league. His 45 points are third overall in OHL scoring.


KUEFLER'S THREE-GOAL WEEKEND

Daylan Kuefler scored three goals over the weekend, helping lead the Kamloops Blazers to a pair of overtime wins over the Prince George Cougars.
The Islanders' 2022 sixth-round pick (174th overall) had a goal in the Blazers 6-5 win on Dec. 16 and netted a pair of goals in Kamloops' 4-3 win the next day. In the process, Kuefler extended his point streak to four games (3G, 5A).
