Here are this week's updates on the Islanders prospects:

Iskhakov, the Islanders' 2018 second-round pick (43rd overall), made an immediate impact in his return, scoring the game-winning goal in a 4-1 win over Düsseldorfer EG on Dec. 23, while also adding an assist. The 21-year-old also recorded an assist in a 5-1 win over EHC Red Bull Munich on Dec. 26.


QMJHL ON BREAK TILL JAN. 7

Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in eastern Canada, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is on pause until Jan. 7.
Per the QMJHL:
Players will report back to their clubs on January 3, 2022. The QMJHL is currently working on updated protocols which will include preventive testing prior to the arrival of players and staff within the team environment.
The League's regular season schedule will resume on Friday, January 7.
Postponed games will be rescheduled at a later date.
William Dufour, the Islanders' 2020 fifth-round pick (152nd overall) and lone Isles prospect in the QMJHL, will resume play on Jan. 7 in Moncton. Dufour is currently tied for second in the league in points with 47 (22G, 25A) in 28 games. Dufour is also riding a 16-game point streak with 29 points (12G, 17A) over that span.


MALINEN BACK WITH JYP:

Aleksi Malinen was back with JYP in Liiga, Finland's top league, on Dec. 20 after spending one game with KeuPa HT in Mestis, Finland's second-tier league.
