Here are this week's updates on the Islanders prospects:

ADAMS SUCCESSFUL SEASON COMES TO AN END

Collin Adams and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks competed until the very end - and then some - in the 2021 NCAA Midwest Regional Finals, where they ultimately fell 3-2 against the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs in fifth overtime - making it the game the longest in NCAA men's hockey history at 6 hours and 15 minutes.
The Fighting Hawks had staged a commendable attempted comeback as they scored two extra-attacker goals - in the span of 43 seconds - in the final 2:40 to play. Adams scored his 14th goal of the season to cut the deficit down 2-1 with 1:39 left in regulation before Jordan Kawaguchi scored the tying goal with 56 seconds to play in regulation.
Unfortunately, after a hard-fought battle over five overtimes Minnesota-Duluth picked up the win to advance to the 2021 Frozen Four.

The night prior, North Dakota came out on top of the American International Yellow Jackets in a 5-1 win to start their journey in the 2021 Division 1 National Championship. The Islanders' 2016 sixth rounder (170th overall) netted his 12th and 13th goals of the season against the Yellow Jackets, before burying his final goal of the season the next night in the Midwest Regional Finals.
Though the end was not in favor of the Fighting Hawks, their season was anything but unsuccessful. North Dakota was top-ranked in the NCHC and NCAA standings for the majority of the campaign and was awarded the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. Adams ended his final season with North Dakota and most successful season yet with a total of 34 points (14G, 20A).

NEWKIRK RECORDS MULTIPOINT WEEKEND

Reece Newkirk banked three points (3A) during three back-to-back games this past weekend. Newkirk's third assist of the season came during the Portland Winterhawks' 3-2 loss against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday, March 27th. The following night, the center fed two more helpers out during the second period in a dominant 7-4 win over the Thunderbirds.
Newkirk's season might have only just begun, but the Islanders' 2019 fifth rounder (147th overall) has started off strong. Reece is currently tied (with 12 others) for first place in the WHL rankings with two game-winning goals. Through his six games played, Newkirk had totaled eight points (3G, 5A).
