Tell us about yourself!

I’ve been teaching 4th grade in Deer Park for 26 yrs at JFK. I knew I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl who played pretend school. I grew up in my district and went to this same school as a child, and still live in Deer Park. I also coach the DP Girls JV Soccer team for the last 8 years (before that I coached the 7th/8th grade girls soccer team at the middle school for like 15 years). I also coach 7/8th girls softball team for the last 20 years. I always go to school/town events to support my students and cheer them on! Unfortunately I do not have my own children, so my 4th graders and the kids I coach every year will always be my children and fulfill the void in my heart for not having my own! I absolutely LOVE what I do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

I am and have been a HUGE Islander fan because of my dad, who used to take me to games all the time. I also remember going to Republic in Farmingdale, NY to see them practice in the 80s. My favorite number is 16 because it was my soccer number and it was Pat LaFontaine’s number. I met him and he signed the jersey I have with his name on back (original white one).

If you played hockey, what position would you play?

I would be a forward so I can score a lot of goals!
