The New York Islanders are taking the fight to cancer as the team hosts its annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night, presented by Northwell Health, when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. Tickets are available here.
The goal of the night is to raise money and awareness for cancer research and to help those who are battling. UBS Arena will be illuminated with lavender arena lanterns outside on Saturday and the dasher boards will be lavender to support the cause.
“Nights like this to be able to come together and support one another, it’s a really important thing,” said Captain Anders Lee. “That’s what makes Long Island special and our league, the efforts they put in on that. It’s a great thing to do.”
Fans can bid on autographed Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys with bidding closing on Nov. 5 and 10 p.m. During the game at UBS Arena, guests will have the opportunity to create their own HFC placards and take a photo at the Islanders backdrop located at section 109 on the concourse.
Saturday’s game will also feature a ceremonial puck drop with pediatric patients who have received treatment at Northwell Health’s Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
Fans in attendance on Saturday will receive a free Hockey Fights Cancer beanie, presented by Northwell Health.
The special evening will feature three Hockey with a Heart charities: the American Cancer Society, Stand Up 2 Cancer, and the Northwell Health Foundation (Northwell Cancer Institute), as proceeds for the 50/50 raffle will go toward the partners.
Autographed mystery pucks branded with the Hockey Fights Cancer logo will be sold for $50 each at the Community Relations table at section 109. Proceeds will go towards the Hockey With A Heart charities.
