The New York Islanders have acquired a second round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft (#52 originally the Edmonton Oilers selection) and forward Richard Panik from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Nick Leddy. Detroit retains 50% of Panik's salary.
The 6'2, 203-pound forward was selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft by the Lightning. He has 194 career points (88 goals and 106 assists) in 517 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes, Washington Capitals and Red Wings. He's played in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring five points (1 goal and 4 assists) with Tampa Bay, Chicago and Washington.
