Varly-Clutter

Cal Clutterbuck and Semyon Varlamov joined the Islanders for practice in Seattle on Saturday afternoon, their first skates with the team since being placed on IR.
Clutterbuck has been out since suffering an upper-body injury on Dec. 16, but has been skating on his own since Dec. 27. Varlamov has been out since suffering a lower-body injury on Dec. 17. Varlamov skated with Clutterbuck on Dec. 28.
"It was good to see them out there," Head Coach Lane Lambert said. "I thought both of them looked pretty good."

Clutterbuck has five points (3G, 2A) in 26 games and is second on the team with 98 hits and averages 2:00 SH TOI/GP. Varlamov is 8-3-1 this season with a 2.65 GAA, a .919 SV% and one shutout. Varlamov is 4-0-1 in his last five starts.
Neither player was activated off IR as of Saturday. Kyle Palmieri did not practice with the team in Seattle, but went on for light work after the team skate. Cory Schneider remains with the club at the start of their four-game road trip.
"He's skating, which is a positive thing," Lambert said. "He just wasn't there for practice yet."
