1920-Stretch

The New York Islanders trimmed their training camp roster by six and are now practicing in just one group.
Forwards William Dufour, Simon Holmstrom, Ruslan Iskhakov and Aatu Räty and goalie Jakub Škarek
were reassigned to Bridgeport Islanders training camp
, the team announced Wednesday. Isaiah George, the team's 2022 fourth-round pick, was assigned to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. George did not skate during training camp after suffering an injury during the Islanders rookie camp.

"It's exciting, to be honest," Ryan Pulock said of trimming the group. "We're getting to the point where opening night's a week or so away. It's now really trying to dial it in and preparing for every guy's role and the systems that we're doing and just focusing on putting together a full game, how we want to play."

The Islanders are in the home stretch of their 2022 training camp. The team has two more preseason games on Thursday and Saturday before starting the regular season on Oct. 13 vs Florida. The Isles are 2-2-0 in preseason play, with a pair of wins coming against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively.
There are still more roster moves that will need to be made before a 23-man roster is finalized, but the Isles are now one step closer to starting back up.
"These are the guys you are going to go to war with every night," Anthony Beauvillier said. "Training camp is always hard, so when you kind of see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's always good. And to have this group in particular, you try not to take it for granted."
