Valtteri Filppula was activated off injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, clearing the way for a possible return to action against the Carolina Hurricanes. Filppula is officially a game-time decision per Head Coach Barry Trotz.
The Islanders center missed two games with an upper-body, suffered on Dec. 31 against the Buffalo Sabres. Filppula has 19 points (9G, 10A) in 38 games this season.
In a corresponding move, Josh Ho-Sang was loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Ho-Sang was recalled by the Islanders on Dec. 9 and played 10 games with the team. The 22-year-old scored his first goal of the season on Dec. 18 against Arizona.
Ho-Sang had 22 points (2G, 20A) in 26 games with the Sound Tigers this season.
