Simon Holmstrom (lower body) was placed on IR retroactive to Dec. 23, while Oliver Wahlstrom (lower body) was placed on IR retroactive to Dec. 27, the Islanders announced on Friday morning.
Holmstrom, who was injured after a collision with Sam Bennett in the
Islanders' 5-1 win over Florida
, is considered day to day, while Wahlstrom, who was hurt after a hit by Pierre-Oliver Joseph in the
Isles' 5-1 win over Pittsburgh
is out indefinitely.
Holmstrom has two points (1G, 1A) in 14 games this season, while Wahlstrom has 16 points (7G, 9A) in 35 games this season.
Neither Holmstrom, nor Wahlstrom and Adam Pelech will accompany the team on their four-game road trip to Seattle and Western Canada. Cal Clutterbuck, Kyle Palmieri and Semyon Varlamov
