Forwards Otto Koivula and Dmytro Timashov were reassigned from the New York Islanders taxi squad to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Wednesday morning.
Timashov, who was acquired from Detroit on Dec. 11, played one game for the Islanders this season, skating in the team's 4-3 OT loss against the Flyers on Jan. 31. Timashov has three seasons of AHL experience with Toronto, appearing in 202 games from 2016-19, accumulating 107 points (38G, 69A) over that span.
Koivula, the Islanders' 2016 fourth-round pick, had yet to get in the Islanders lineup this season. The 22-year-old had previously played 14 games for HIFK in Finland's Liiga before the start of the NHL season. Koivula has played 105 games with Bridgeport over the past two seasons, racking up 30 goals and 38 assists.
The Sound Tigers next game is Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. vs Providence.
