Kyle MacLean joined the Islanders for practice on Thursday morning, marking his first skate with the group after earning his first NHL recall on Wednesday afternoon.
"It's pretty special. I'm extremely excited and happy to be here," MacLean said. "It's cool for the first time, so I'm excited and just looking forward to tomorrow night."
MacLean skated between Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck, assuming the usual spot of Casey Cizikas, who was placed on IR. MacLean wore number 32.
"I like him in that spot," Head Coach Lane Lambert said. "Similar to Casey, he's got some speed, he plays the game the same way and from that standpoint gives that line an identity so to speak."
“I'm not going to change much,” MacLean said. “I'm just going to try to play a responsible game, be a good two-way forward and work hard.”
