Head Coach Barry Trotz and Ryan Pulock were placed in COVID-19 protocol, the team announced on Tuesday morning.
Pulock has been out since Nov. 15 with a lower-body injury and was skating on his own prior to Tuesday's placement in protocol.
Trotz took a personal leave of absence earlier this month, but had returned to run practice on Saturday and Monday. The Islanders Head Coach missed the team's 3-2 OT win over the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 1 as part of his leave of absence. Associate Coach Lane Lambert ran the bench while Trotz was away.
"There's quite a bit [of empathy]," Islanders Captain Anders Lee said of Trotz. "Barry is such an empathetic guy himself, always looking after everyone in our organization here, players, coaches, the whole deal. He's a good family man, he's been through a lot lately and now with the covid, we wish him the best in the next few days, he's itching to be back with us adn we'll make sure that we take care of business while he's away."
