Hockey moms are the foundation for any youth hockey player. They sacrifice sleep for early-morning practices, load up the car with smelly gear to drive to games, cheer the loudest in the stands and are always there for support, win or lose. Long Island has some of the best hockey moms in the game, so we asked you to share some stories about the fantastic moms in our midst.
Happy Mother's Day to all the hockey moms out there!

Our mom has been our biggest fan, especially over the many years we have played hockey with Farmingdale PAL. She is a great hockey mom because she never misses a game and no matter the score, consistently offers positive encouragement. Our mom has always stressed how the sport of hockey teaches us lessons about the importance of teamwork, dedication, humility, sportsmanship and good old-fashioned hard work. She is also a firm believer that learning can go hand in hand with having fun. Thanks to mom's support, and the many hours she has taxied us to games, she helped us develop a foundation that will serve us well as we go forward in the game of life. Good job Mom...you truly are an awesome Hockey Mom!

Mom says she's our Uber driver with snacks. But if she wasn't able to leave work early to pick up my brother first, then me, there's no way I could play hockey.

My Mom is by biggest supporter and has never missed a game. I never have to worry about getting to practice she always drives and she always gets me there early. I couldn't do it without her. She is the best Hockey Mom.

This Mother's Day, the 2019/2020 Islander Elite 12U team would like to thank our momager Coriander. As our manager, she is organized, has the answer to all our questions and never lets us get bored during tournaments. Even during quarantine, she keeps us connected with Zoom workouts. But she is so much more. She is a second mom to us all. Coriander is motivating, trustworthy and reliable. She is always there for us no matter what. We cannot imagine our team without her positive vibe. Coriander is the best!"

My mom is such a great hockey mom because she supports me on and off the ice. Sometimes the games are far, early, and cold and my mom still comes and cheers for me. I don't know what I would do without my mom on or off the ice.

My hockey mom is very important to me. She drives to every practice, every game and every tournament. She would take me all the way to a different country just so I can pursue my dream. She cheers for me even when my team is losing. If it wasn't for my mom, I wouldn't be the player I am today. Thank you mom for everything you do for me.

Thank you for everything you do for me when it comes to hockey. Whether I have a game, practice or private lesson you are always there with me. When we go to tournaments and have to drive five hours to Delaware or 10 hours to Canada, like this year, you are always there. Almost everything we do or where we go hockey related and we have a blast. I know that sometimes it is hard to get it paid for, but you always try your hardest and bust your butt to make sure that I can play hockey. We have gone through a bunch of hard times but we have gotten past them and you are a big part of it. You truly are the best hockey Mom ever.

Hi everyone. I am writing this paragraph for my mom. Now, let me get one thing straight: my mom is the best mom ever! She is working very hard during these scary times. She does the cooking, cleaning, helps me and siblings with their classwork plus her 44 students she has to teach as well. She is a special education teacher, so she is very compassionate to students who have special needs.
Also, my mom is fighting for her dad and helping him every single day trying to make him happy and healthy. (He is very sick, in the later stages of Alzheimer's.) She calls and visits my grandma to see how he is doing and also tries to support the both of them. And at the end of every day she is very tired and just wants everyone in our family happy. And can you believe it she says every day, "I cannot wait for hockey to be back."
She still promotes me to practice, play hard and train because she knows how I love the sport and watching me and my brother play makes her forget about any sadness. Hockey helps me and helps my mom! So I am writing this for her, and Mom I love you!

My Hockey Mom is so important to me for so many reasons. She is always driving me to the rink. She watches all my games and if she can't be there in person, she watches them on line. And most of all she is always there to support me no matter how I play! I love you Mom. Happy Mother's Day!

My mom is a great hockey mom because she brings me to all my games and practices. She roots me on and supports me. She makes sure we are always on time to all of my games and practices and that I have everything I need. Happy Mother's Day!

My hockey mom is the best person a hockey player could have asked for. She can handle anything. She is important to me because she takes me to late night and early morning practices and listens to me complain about bad calls, sweet goals and cellies. She buys new equipment and pays for me to play hockey. She is always looking out for me and makes sure I have the best gear and equipment. She always takes me to Islanders games and to meet my favorite players. She sent me and my brothers to Matt Martin's hockey academy, and always tries to get Islanders tickets for us whenever she can. She always strives to be the best hockey mom ever and I know she's my number one fan.

So, my hockey mom always supports my love for hockey, even though she cannot come and cheer at every one of my games. You see, my older sister and younger brother also play travel ice hockey. Sometimes we are all in three different states! My Hockey Mom juggles three practice schedules, three game schedules, and my toddler sister's schedule too. We basically lived at the ice rink before the COVID-19. After each game my mom always tell me, "I love to watch you play." No matter the score. She encourages me to use my hockey IQ and always learn and grow. My mom plays in the parents vs kids games- even though she is the only mom on the ice! It is fun to check her. Well, that's my Hockey Mom!

My mom is not like most hockey moms. I get sad she cannot come to all of my games, but it is not her choice. My older brother and sister also play travel ice hockey, and sometimes my little sister is sick and she needs to stay home with her. My mom always makes sure she finds a way to get me where I need to be. My mom loves my teammates and their families. They are our Hockey Family. I love going away to tournaments and hearing her cheer, "Let's Go Islanders...Let's Go E-House!"
