Josh Ho-Sang will get a chance to skate on the Islanders top line on Friday as he fills in for Eberle.
"Ebs is a great player and it's not just me, but everyone on this team is going to have to step up tonight to fill his role," Ho-Sang said. "I'm just hoping to continue the success we've had."
Barry Trotz has said he's liked some of the improvements in Ho-Sang's game since his recall, notably his poise, wall play and decision making. Ho-Sang's best attribute is his playmaking, which is what led Trotz to pair him with the Islanders top two goal scorers in Lee (13 goals) and Nelson (12).
"He's a player that has a capable skills to go up there," Trotz said. "He's actually played a little bit with Brock in the past so that is just a natural fit for him."
Four of Ho-Sang's 16 career assists have come on Nelson goals. He has one goal in five games this season after recording 22 points (2G, 20A) in 26 games for Bridgeport.
"Brock has been having a great year without me. He's leading the team in goals, so I don't think he needs too much help right now," Ho-Sang said. "I'll set him up if I can and the same goes for Anders. They are both prolific goal scorers. For me, I want an opportunity to get those guys the puck."
