JG-Ping-Pong

UPDATE: Following their 3-1 series win over the Florida Panthers, the Islanders wrapped up their ping pong tournament and crowned Jean-Gabriel Pageau the official Boys of the Isle Champion. Pageau beat Adam Pelech in the final to take the title and also beat Devon Toews (quarterfinals) and Mathew Barzal (semis) en route.

During their off time inside the bubble, the Islanders are trading a hockey stick for a ping pong paddle. On Aug 2, the team started a ping pong tournament to pass the time when they aren't playing or practicing and build some team camaraderie.

Isles captain Anders Lee helped organize the tournament. With the majority of the team involved in the tournament, the Isles relocated their tables to the lobby of the Fairmont Royal York.

"We just decided that we should have a tourney and everyone was enjoying it," Lee said. "[There's] four groups. The top two come out and we'll go from there. We're hoping for it to last a few days. We'll crown a champion. Then, we'll probably look into a doubles tournament."

"We're just trying to have some fun with it. We're enjoying our time with each other and spending a lot of time with one another," Lee added. "It's fun to be in a group and get competitive again and we've got some good table tennis players."

In the end, Pageau took the crown.
