The New York Islanders shut out the New Jersey Devils 2-0 on Thursday night at Barclays Center, improving to 2-2-0 in four preseason contests.
Kieffer Bellows and Anders Lee scored power-play goals for the Islanders, while Thomas Greiss (25 saves) and Christopher Gibson (11 saves) combined for the shutout. Bellows opened the scoring late in the first period, while Lee added the insurance at 12:21 of the third. Keith Kinkaid stopped 25-of-27 shots for the Devils.
"It always takes a few games to figure things out and get your legs under you and every game you start to feel better and better whether that's with the systems or timing or positioning down," Lee said. "Tonight we had an off start, but we worked through it, worked hard and were tougher to play against in the latter half of the game and it showed in the third period. We played with a one-goal lead and we held it."
