The New York Islanders earned a point, but left one on the table, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.
Scott Mayfield and Mathew Barzal scored for the Islanders, but Patrik Laine's OT winner propelled the Blue Jackets to the win 1:49 into the extra frame. Boone Jenner and Cole Sillinger also scored for Columbus, netting a pair of goals 33 seconds apart near the end of the second period.
The loss drops the Islanders to 1-2-1 on the season, while Columbus improved to 3-1-0 on the season.
