The New York Islanders fell to the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Centre Bell.
Brock Nelson (1G, 1A), Bo Horvat and Matt Martin put up goals for the Islanders, while Nick Suzuki, Justin Barron and Kirby Dach scored in regulation. Mike Matheson (1G, 1A) netted the game-winner in the overtime frame, which was upheld after a Situation Room initiated-challenge.
Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves in the loss, while Sam Montembeault made 27 saves in the win.

THE SCORING:
1st Period:
12:57 - MTL 1, NYI 0 - Rafael Harvey-Pinard finds a wide-open Nick Suzuki, who takes a cross-crease shot to beat Varlamov to open the scoring. Josh Anderson picks up the secondary assist.
15:01 - MTL 1, NYI 1 - Right after a faceoff win, Sebastian Aho feeds Noah Dobson. He takes a long shot from the point, which makes contact with Brock Nelson's stick, redirecting it past Sam Montembeault to even the score. Nelson extends his career-long point streak to 10 games and picks up his 50th point on the season in the process.

2nd Period:
19:55 - NYI 2, MTL 1 PPG - In the waning seconds of the second period, the Islanders take their first lead of the game on the power play. Noah Dobson fakes the shot, sends it in Bo Horvat's direction, who fires it toward the net and past Montembeault. Sebastian Aho tallies his second assist of the game.

3rd Period:
4:03 - NYI 2, MTL 2 - Justin Barron scores his first goal of the season, wristing a shot past Varlamov to knot the game at two. Evgenii Dadonov and Mike Hoffman collect the assists.
10:54 - NYI 3, MTL 2 - The Islanders recapture the lead with a Matt Martin deflection off a long shot from Alexander Romanov, to beat a screened Montembeault. Scott Mayfield picks up the secondary assist.

16:44 - NYI 3, MTL 3 - Kirby Dach's tip-in finds the back of the net through traffic to tie the game at three goals apiece. Mike Matheson and Hoffman record the assists on the play.
Overtime:
4:38 - MTL 4, NYI 3 - Mike Hoffman comes out of the box after serving a penalty and rushes down the ice with Mike Matheson. Hoffman moves in on Varlamov, who makes the initial save but Matheson is there to bury the rebound to win it for the Canadiens in the extra frame.
NOTEBOOK:
Brock Nelson extended his career-long point streak to 10 games, with 11 points (6G, 5A) over that span. Nelson also reached the 50-point threshold with his first period goal against Montreal, achieving 50+ points for the fourth time in his career... Bo Horvat scored his 34th goal of the season, extending his goal streak to three games. Horvat has 12 power play goals on the season including his first as an Islander on Saturday... The Islanders power play is 4-for-9 in the last four games after a 4-for-68 skid... Noah Dobson records his second consecutive multi-point game...
