The New York Islanders suffered a 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Ilya Sorokin made 24 saves on 29 shots in the loss
Jacob Markstrom made 19 saves on 21 shots in Calgary's victory.

THE SCORING:
First Period:
9:58 - CGY 1, NYI 0 - From the low slot, Adam Ruzicka buried Rasmus Andersson's feed to give Calgary a 1-0 lead. Noah Hanafin also recorded an assist.
17:07 - NYI 1, CGY 1, PPG -A long-range shot from Noah Dobson took a fortuitous redirection to beat Jacob Markstrom on the Islanders' power play. Mathew Barzal and Jean-Gabriel Pageau picked up the assists.
18:08 - CGY 2, NYI 1 -Calgary ushered a quick response to restore its lead. Off the rush, Chris Tanev wired his shot past Ilya Sorokin from the high slot. Johnny Gaudreau and Oliver Kylington collected the assists.
Second Period:
15:32 - CGY 3, NYI 1 -Andrew Mangiapane extended Calgary's lead 3-1. Adam Ruzicka and Nikita Zadorov tallied the assists.
16:50 - CGY 3, NYI 2 - From the slot, Jean-Gabriel Pageau buried a feed from Zach Parise to cut the Islanders' deficit down 3-2. Oliver Wahlstrom also notched an assist.
Third Period:
8:00 - CGY 4 - NYI 2 -Erik Gudbranson's shot trickled past Ilya Sorokin and past the goal line to double the Flames' lead 4-2. Milan Lucic and Trevor Lewis gathered the assists.
15:13 - CGY 5 - NYI 2 -Elias Lindholm scored from point-blank in the slot. He beat Ilya Sorokin with a one-timer off Matthew Tkachuk's feed.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Islanders were 1-for-3 on the power play and were 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The Flames were 0-for-1 on the power play and were 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

Ilya Sorokin made his 29th start of the season while his record dropped to 4-10-5… Semyon Varlamov was set to start and play the game, but following warmup it was confirmed that he had been placed in COVID-19 protocol… Noah Dobson scored his seventh goal of the season and his second power-play goal… Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his sixth goal of the season… The Islanders are 13-4-4 when scoring first and are 4-15-2 when allowing the opening goal.
