Game Six L

The New York Islanders' season came to an end on Friday night with a 2-1 OT loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game Six.
Paul Stastny buried the overtime winner on a shot from the goal line. Cal Clutterbuck scored for the Islanders in the opening frame and the narrow 1-0 lead held through 49:24, until Sebastian Aho scored for the Hurricanes to force overtime.
Ilya Sorokin made a series-high 39 saves in the loss, while Frederik Andersen made 33 saves in his first start of the series.

THE SCORING:
1st Period:
9:20 - NYI 1, CAR 0 - Ryan Pulock completes a pass in the neutral zone to Cal Clutterbuck, who finds open ice and rushes into the Hurricanes zone. Clutterbuck blasts a shot in the circle to beat Frederik Andersen to open the scoring, recording his first point in the playoffs this year in the process. Casey Cizikas collects the secondary assist.

9:24 - NYI 1, CAR 1 - In a scramble in front of the net, the bouncing puck hits Sebastian Aho (Canes), who knocked it down with his hand and sent the puck home. Brett Pesce records the secondary assist.
Overtime:
6:00 - CAR 2, NYI 1 - Paul Stastny takes a tough angle shot below the goal line which slides under Sorokin's pad, bounces off his skate and into the net. Derek Stepan registers the primary assist on the game-winner for the Hurricanes to advance to the Second Round.
NOTEBOOK:
Cal Clutterbuck recorded his first playoff point of the season with the opening goal, while Ryan Pulock tallied his fourth point of the series with the primary assist... The Islanders lead after the first period for the second consecutive game... The Islanders fell in overtime for the second game of the series against the Hurricanes... Hudson Fasching drew his third penalty in the postseason... Kyle Palmieri took a team-high four shots on goal, while Mathew Barzal recorded a team-high 10 shot attempts (two on goal, seven blocked, one missed)… JG Pageau and Matt Martin tied for a team-high three hits... Adam Pelech led with 24:42 TOI.
GOALTENDING MATCHUP:
Ilya Sorokin stopped 39-of-41 in the loss.
Frederik Andersen stopped 33-of-34 in the win.
