Fast's overtime winner was an unsatisfying result to a solid game for the Islanders, who at one point rallied out of a 2-0 hole to take a 3-2 lead. Kyle Palmieri (1G, 1A), Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson (1G, 1A) scored for the Islanders in regulation, while Paul Stastny, Stefan Noesen and Jaccob Slavin (1G, 1A) also scored for the Hurricanes.
Special teams were lopsided for Game Two, as the Islanders did not receive a power play but went 5-for-6 on the kill.
Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves in the loss, while Antti Raanta made 23 saves in the win.
