The New York Islanders shut out the Winnipeg Jets 2-0 on Saturday night at Canada Life Centre.
Anders Lee and Brock Nelson scored for the Islanders as Ilya Sorokin earned his third shutout of the season with a 24-save performance. Eric Comrie made 29 saves on 31 shots in the loss for the Jets.

First Period:
3:12 - NYI 1, WPG 0 - Anders Lee opened the scoring as he buried a one-timer from the slow slot of a pass from Josh Bailey to give the Islanders an early 1-0 lead. Bailey received the sole assist on the play.
Second Period:
No goals.
Third Period:
0:47 - NYI 2, WPG 0 - Brock Nelson doubles the Islanders' lead 2-0 early in the second period as he wired a wrist shot past Comrie. Kyle Palmieri and Adam Pelech picked up the assists on the goal.

With his third shutout of the season, he improved his record to 5-2-2… Anders Lee scored his second goal of the season… Brock Nelson scored his team-high seventh goal of the season and fifth goal in the last two games. Nelson leads the team with his nine points (7G, 2A) through as many games this season… Mathew Barzal nearly gave the Islanders a 3-0 lead eight minutes into the third period, but his lofted shot on a breakaway struck the crossbar… The Islanders are now 5-1-2 when scoring first… With the victory, the Islanders extended their point streak to seven games (5-0-2).
