The New York Islanders got three goals at five-on-five to bust out of a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night at UBS Arena.
Matt Martin put the Islanders ahead 1-0 in the second period, but Zach Parise and Brock Nelson widened the gulf with a pair of strikes 43 seconds apart in the middle frame. Semyon Varlamov made 21 saves for his first shutout of the season and 37th of his career.
In the process, the Islanders swept the season series with the Blackhawks.
