First win on home ice.
The New York Islanders defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-2 on Saturday night at UBS Arena to record their first-ever win at their brand-new home.

Noah Dobson (power play), Andy Greene, Zach Parise (shorthanded) and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Islanders, while Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves on 32 shots.
Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes scored for the Devils while Akira Schmid made 25 saves on 29 shots in the loss and in his NHL debut.
THE SCORING:
First Period:
17:01 - NJD 1, NYI 0 -Jesper Bratt put the Devils on the board late in the first period. Jonas Siegenthaler recorded the sole assist.
17:45 - NYI 1, NJD 2, PPG - Noah Dobson equalized the score for the Islanders as he scored on the power play. Mathew Barzal and Oliver Wahlstrom registered the assists.
18:25 - NJD 2, NYI 1 - Jack Hughes scored on the fly to give New Jersey a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Pavel Zacha notched the sole assist on the goal.
Second Period:
8:33 - NYI 2, NJD 2 -Andy Greene scored his first goal of the season as he tied the score up 2-2 for the Islanders. Mathew Barzal and Josh Bailey received assists.
16:33 - NYI 3, NJD 2, SHG -Zach Parise buried his first goal of the season and first goal as a member of the Islanders as he scored shorthanded. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Scott Mayfield tallied assists on the goal.
Third Period:
9:37 - NYI 4, NJD 2 - Jean-Gabriel Pageau extended the Islanders' lead 4-2 as he buried a feed from Oliver Wahlstrom, who recorded the sole assist on the goal.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Islanders were 1-for-2 on the power play and were 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, including a shorthanded goal.
The Devils were 0-for-3 on the power play and were 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
GOALTENDING BATTLE:
Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves on 32 shots for the Islanders.
Akira Schmid made 25 saves on 29 shots for the Devils.

He scored the goal on the same day of what would have been his father, J.P. Parise's 80th birthday. His father J.P. played with the Islanders from 1974-78… Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his fourth goal of the season and his second goal in the last three games… Ilya Sorokin made his 17th start of the season and improved his record to 7-6-4… Mathew Barzal posted two assists and extended his point streak to six games where he has compiled nine points (1G, 8A) in that span… Brock Nelson returned to the lineup after being sidelined since Nov. 21 with a lower-body injury… Casey Cizikas returned to the lineup after being placed in COVID-19 protocols on Nov. 27… Robin Salo returned to the lineup for the first time since Nov. 26… Anthony Beauvillier was a healthy scratch.
