3:31 - NYI 2, MTL 0 - Oliver Wahlstrom notched his fifth goal of the season as he sniped a wrister from the slot past Montreal goalie Jake Allen. Casey Cizikas earned the sole assist.
12:25 - NYI 3, MTL 0 -Brock Nelson scored his second goal of the game as he buried a rebound. Kyle Palmieri and Anthony Beauvillier collected assists.
15:23 - NYI 4, MTL 0 - Brock Nelson completed his hat trick as he buried his third goal of the night. Nelson buried a feed from Anthony Beauvillier off an odd-man rush. Beauvillier registered the sole assist on the goal.
18:08 - NYI 5, MTL 0 - Jean-Gabriel Pageau extended the Islanders' lead up to 5-0 as he buried a pass from Zach Parise. Ryan Pulock also earned an assist on the goal.
Third Period:
15:20 - NYI 5, MTL 1, SHG - Nick Suzuki robbed Ilya Sorokin of the shutout as he scored Montreal's first goal of the game on the penalty kill for the Canadiens. David Savard tallied the assist on the goal.
