The New York Islanders suffered a 3-0 result to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night at UBS Arena. The game was the second leg of a back-to-back set for the Islanders and closed out an Opening Weekend pair of games at their new home.
For Toronto, Mitch Marner scored twice, including once shorthanded, while Ondrej Kase also found the back of the net. In goal, Joseph Woll made 20 saves to earn the shutout.
Ilya Sorokin made 37 saves on 40 shots in the loss for the Islanders.

The Islanders wrapped up their first ever back-to-back set at UBS Arena (0-2-0)… Ilya Sorokin made his 12th start of the season while his record dropped to 5-5-2… Defensemen Grant Hutton and Robin Salo, who made their respective NHL debuts on Saturday night, each played in their second-straight game… The Islanders were without Josh Bailey, Anders Lee, Ross Johnston and Adam Pelech, Andy Greene, who are all in COVID-19 protocols. Prior to the game, it was announced that Anthony Beauvillier, who missed Saturday's game due to a false positive COVID-19 test, would be in the lineup. With the news of Beauvillier's return came the discovery that Kieffer Bellows was being placed in COVID-19 protocols... With Josh Bailey and Islanders captain Anders Lee still out, Scott Mayfield wore an 'A' for the second night in a row.
