Final

The New York Islanders concluded their three-game road trip with a 4-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, officially ending the Islanders playoff chances.
Anthony Beauvillier opened the scoring for New York with Josh Bailey making it 2-1 in the second period, but Toronto's offense came alive as Mitch Marner, Pierre Engvall, and William Nylander put up goals for the Maple Leafs in the comeback. In a physical matchup between the two teams, the Islanders recorded 48 hits, with the Maple Leafs recording 25 on the night.
The loss was the Islanders third in three meetings with Toronto this season.

14:17 - NYI 1, TOR 0 - New York opens the scoring on the power play, as Kyle Palmieri weaves through traffic to feed Anthony Beauvillier, who beats Jack Campbell far-side. Ryan Pulock tallies the secondary assist.
17:31 - TOR 1, NYI 1 - Mitch Marner positions himself in front of the net to clean up the rebound from Mark Giordanio, sneaking it past Ilya Sorokin to tie the game at one. Michael Bunting picks up the secondary assist.
2nd Period
0:31 - NYI 2, TOR 1 - Alexander Kerfoot inadvertently helps out the Islanders by tapping the puck into his own goal early in the second period. Josh Bailey receives credit for the goal after handling the puck in front of the net.
10:49 - TOR 2, NYI 2 - Alexander Kerfoot makes up for his previous error in the period with a swift pass to Pierre Engvall on a two-on-one rush, who snaps it past Sorokin to tie the game.
13:20 - TOR 3, NYI 2 - The Maple Leafs score their first power-play goal in 18 opportunities on a one-timer from William Nylander, who finds open ice and beats Sorokin five-hole. John Tavares and Michael Bunting had the assists.

19:51 - TOR 4, NYI 2 - (EN) David Kampf seals the deal with an empty netter late in the third period.

With Semyon Varlamov out, Ilya Sorokin made his fourth straight start and second with Ken Appleby serving as the backup for New York… Sebastian Aho replaced Grant Hutton on Sunday night and recorded two hits and one blocked attempt in 14:02 of ice time... Ross Johnston replaced Oliver Wahlstrom in the lineup, as Johnston recorded four hits in 9:58 of ice time, including a fight with Wayne Simmons early in the first period… Anthony Beauvillier snapped a nine-game point drought with his goal… Auston Matthews was out of the lineup for Toronto with a day-to-day injury, leaving the Islanders as the only club he did not record a point against this season… Mitch Marner tied his previous career-high with his 94th point… The Leafs set records for wins (50) and points (106) with Sunday's win.

GOALTENDING BATTLE:

Making his fourth start in six nights, Ilya Sorokin stopped 33 of 36 shots in the loss.
Jack Campbell stopped 26 of 28 in the win.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Islanders power play went 1-for-2 on the night. Their penalty kill went 2-for-3, fending off a 1:21 five-on-three in the third period.
