The New York Islanders fell 3-2 in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night in the second half of a back-to-back set.
Brock Nelson scored his team-high 16th goal of the season and Matt Martin netted his fifth of the season to generate offense for the Islanders, but it wasn't enough to stop a comeback effort from the Sabres. Alex Tuch scored in the second period and Victor Olofsson scored in the third period to push the game to the extra frame, while Dylan Cozens netted the OT winner in the first 12 seconds of overtime to take the win for Buffalo.
Ilya Sorokin made 42 saves in the loss, with 19 of those in the first frame. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 24-of-26 in the win.
