The New York Islanders took care of business on Monday night, beating a New Jersey Devils split-squad lineup 3-0 at Barclays Center.
Brock Nelson, Mathew Barzal and Johnny Boychuk scored for the Islanders and that's all Thomas Greiss needed, as he turned aside all 25 shots for a shutout in his first full preseason game.
From top to bottom, the Islanders played a strong game on Monday night. They started early with Nelson's opening goal and eventual winner 1:11 into the contest and never looked back. They outshot the Devils 45-25, out-chanced them and even played keep away with a couple of extended cycles, notably a long 6-on-5 stretch in the third on a Devils' delayed penalty.
