The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Luca Sbisa has signed a one-year contract.
Sbisa, 28, scored 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 30 games last season with the Vegas Golden Knights. He added four assists in 12 postseason games to help Vegas advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Philadelphia Flyers selected Sbisa in the first round (19th overall) of the 2008 National Hockey League Draft. He's played 495 career regular-season games with the Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks and Vegas, totaling 102 points (18g/84a). Sbisa has eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 32 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Born in Ozieri, Italy, Sbisa grew up in Switzerland and has represented the Swiss at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, two World Championships and two Junior World Championships. He played for Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
He played one season for the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League in 2007-08, marking his first season in North America.
