Islanders 2021-22 Photos of the Year

Ilya Sorokin's stick save on Artemi Panarin all happened in a split-second, but the appreciation of that save has lasted long into the offseason.
Sorokin won the save of the year in the NHL's annual Fan Choice Vote, so safe to say it left an impression the league as a whole.

A quick refresher. The Islanders were taking on the Rangers at Madison Square Garden when Frank Vatrano found an open Panarin, who had a look at a seemingly wide open net. Sorokin briefly lost his footing, but didn't give up on the play, lunging over in a desperation attempt. This wasn't pure luck though, as Sorokin tracked the puck, lifted his stick off the ice and was able to deny the Rangers' leading scorer.

Sorokin was superb in his sophomore season, going 26-18-8, with a 2.40 GAA, a .925 SV% and seven shutouts. Sorokin finished second in the league in SV% and shutouts (for goalies who played more than 20 games) and was fourth in GAA.
