Nick Suzuki scored his third career overtime goal 2:39 into the extra session as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Isles 2-1 before a crowd of 21,105 at Centre Bell.
Patrik Laine made his Canadiens debut and scored the game's opening goal on the power play; Anders Lee knotted the game with 1:05 to play in the middle period.
