Eastern Conference First Round Game 1Isles 4, Pittsburgh 3 (OT)
This time, Josh Bailey didn't give Pittsburgh a chance to answer. Bailey scored at 4:39 of overtime to give the Isles a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins before a sellout crowd of 13,917 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Three times the Isles took leads in regulation, only to have Pittsburgh even the score. Finally, Bailey's first Stanley Cup overtime goal gave the Isles a 1-0 lead in the series.

Four Islanders played in their first Stanley Cup playoff game: Adam Pelech, Devon Toews and Mathew Barzal all earned assists while Anthony Beauvillier's screen helped set up Nick Leddy's goal.
Game 2 will be at the Coliseum on Friday.

Josh Bailey recorded his first career overtime goal; he is the first player to score a playoff overtime goal on Coliseum ice since John Tavares (4/19/2015 vs. Washington)…After not scoring in 13 playoff games for Edmonton, Jordan Eberle scored his first career playoff goal just 100 seconds into play…Tom Kuhnhackl had goals disallowed after video review in both the first period and the overtime…The Isles power play went 0-14 in 2015 against Barry Trotz, but scored 25 seconds into their first power play tonight…Evgeni Malkin now has 12 points in seven career playoff games against the Isles…The Isles got points from ten different players; every Isles played at least 11 minutes…Valtteri Filppula appeared in his 27th career playoff game against Pittsburgh (most of any active player). Only Dominic Moore (31 games) has played more playoff games against the Pens. Filppula, who recorded an assist, is 25-58-83 in 159 playoff games. He has played 61 more playoff games than Johnny Boychuk, who is 2nd in career games among current Isles….20 of the Isles 50 all-time playoff game have ended within the first five minutes; all six overtime games between these teams have been decided in the first nine minutes of overtime…The Isles have won four straight games 1's; when the Isles win game 1 of a best-of-seven series, they have gone on to win the series 22 out of 41 times.
