Stafford, 31, was acquired by the Jets from the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 11/15 along with defenceman Tyler Myers, forward Joel Armia, forward Brendan Lemieux and a first round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, which the Jets used to select forward Jack Roslovic in exchange for forward Evander Kane, defenceman Zach Bogosian and goaltender Jason Kasdorf. Stafford, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., played in 144 games with the Jets during parts of the last three seasons, scoring 34 goals and adding 36 assists for 70 points. He had two points (1G, 1A) in four games for the Jets during the 2015 NHL playoffs. Stafford has 392 points (179G, 213A) in 707 career NHL games.
