Three members of the Winnipeg Jets are participating in the 2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship, which is being hosted in Tampere, Finland and Riga, Latvia.

Sunday marked the 10th day of competition, with Dylan Samberg and Nino Niederreiter taking to the ice.

SWITZERLAND 4, CZECHIA 2

In a battle of the top two teams in Group B, Switzerland stepped up with a big performance and came out on top of a 4-2 final score.

The win pushes captain Nino Niederreiter and his Switzerland squad to 6-0-0-0.

Czechia got the game's first goal 6:47 into the first, but a little under six minutes later the Swiss tied things up on a goal from Romain Loeffel. It was the first of three unanswered goals from Switzerland, which gave them a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

Dominik Kubalik made things interesting, scoring to make it 3-2 with 7:46 remaining in regulation. But a perfect passing play from the Swiss 3:26 later resulted in a Tanner Richard goal, and a 4-2 lead.

Niederreiter was kept off the scoresheet but did have one shot in 18:59 of ice time.

Next up, the Swiss close out the preliminary round on Tuesday against Latvia.

USA 9, FRANCE 0

The USA left no doubt in this one, scoring three goals in the first and riding that momentum to a 9-0 victory.

That keeps USA's perfect record (now 6-0-0-0) in tact, and puts them atop Group A.

Cutter Gauthier had one of those first period goals, and finished the game with a hat trick and four points.

Other American skaters with multi-point games included Matt Coronato, Drew O'Connor, Scott Perunovich, Conor Garland, and TJ Tynan.

Dylan Samberg played 16:39 in the win, which sets the stage for USA's final preliminary round game on Tuesday against Sweden - who sits second in Group A.
