Winnipeg, MB - As a steward of the game of hockey, the National Hockey League is celebrating Green Month in March. As part of the NHL's Green initiative, the Winnipeg Jets will host Go Green Night at Bell MTS Place (BMP), Sunday, March 25 when the team welcomes Nashville. Game time is 6 p.m. CDT.
Go Green Night promotes the responsibility of True North Sports + Entertainment (TNSE) and the league in protecting our planet. Through its sustainability program, the NHL aims to ensure that the sport of hockey thrives for future generations. Winnipeg Jets forward Shawn Matthias will serve as the team's Go Green spokesman for this initiative.

TNSE and the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club are committed to reducing our environmental impact and have made it a priority to monitor and improve the environmental footprint of our sports facilities and operations, including at BMP, Bell MTS Iceplex, Burton Cummings Theatre, and Camp Manitou.
With efforts primarily focused on recycling, waste management, energy efficiency, and water conservation, True North has kept more than 1.2 million tons of waste out of our landfills since BMP opened in 2004.
• In 2017 more than 1,200 trees were saved through the recycling of paper and cardboard
• Around 100 lbs of cardboard are recycled each day at BMP
• 200 tons of coffee grinds and kitchen scraps have been composted at BMP since 2011
• 65 tons of cooking oil for BMP concessions have been recycled into biodiesel since 2011
• 127 tons of plastic have been recycled since 2011
• BMP will be almost exclusively LED powered by 2019
• BMP's low flow fixtures helped to conserve 1.6 million litres of water last year
• Only eco-friendly and Certified Green products are used in TNSE facilities
• NSE is proud to have an eco-friendly paper supplier that plants two trees for every one tree that is cut down
The March 25 Go Green game is sponsored by GFL (Green For Life) Environmental who will be providing each fan in attendance with a locally-produced wildflower seed package that will help to create habitats for declining bee populations.
